City Sound Ordinance Hello to all riders: Hope everyone is surviving the heat that we have been encountering. We have had some hot weekends out here at the track so far. I just wanted to send out this quick note to inform everyone of some new sound ordinances that we will be soon be putting into place. We have received notices from the city of Rockford that action must be taken to help reduce noise given there are neighborhoods on the north end of the park. We are not exactly sure exactly how far we will have to go regulating certain machines but we will find out more soon. One thing I can say is don't be surprised next time your out and see some trails on the north end of the park blocked off and/or re-routed. One stipulation is that our trails must be 100ft from all fence lines. Many of the trails on that north end are within that 100 ft so it may take some time to re-route all of them. We will be sure to give updates as we receive them. As for the time being, we will not be checking for decibels but will be looking out for machines that have really loud exhausts and will be asking that they remain on the south end of the park. I would suspect that in time we will be forced to crack down on any machine that is extremely loud. Decibel checking is definitely not out of the question. Until then… if you think your bike or quad is pretty loud, repack that exhaust! It's pretty cheap and easy to do. Thanks…..Mitch. Park Manager. |
